Hi to all whom may lurk on my page... |
I know I've been gone for a bit more like several months to be exact...
This year has been very hectic for me behind the scenes; me being in my last year of high school, my health, & shifting around prep work for projects both big & small...it's all a lot to handle at 17!
But, I wouldn't come climbing on if I didn't have any news to share, so here it is:
Point 01:
I will not be entering into the BCPS Film Expo.
"...WOAH! That's a crazy sentence! What do you mean you aren't entering?!"
I mean exactly what I said. Over time I've realized I simply cannot balance both a full Final Capstone Film & an animated trailer together. On top of that, I still haven't been able to receive the music in order to animate, due to the inclement weather. Makes no sense when the submission is 01 week away.
"But Sim! This is your last chance to submit something for your school county...isn't it?"
Yup!
"Well...why don't you try to submitting a scene from whatever your Final Capstone is, into the BCPS Film Expo?"
Great question! There's a reason why I can't. Unfortunately, from the previous group film segment, I had been left to direct, operate the camcorder (Canon XF100), & complete the final editing for...wait for it...over 42 hours total. I had to pull 02 sleepless nights for that. Needless to say, that on it's own & the direction process was really draining. It was worth it, but one project at a time is enough. On top of that, considering the fact that for the Final Capstone, I will have to have 02 more segments filmed, go back into the first 02 segments & clean those up, stitch all 04 segments together into the full compilation film. There is no way for me to animate in the similar technique Robert Valley uses in this time period.
And that leads us to my next point.
Point 02:
"Reborn: A New User" will instead be entered into a larger Film Festival, possibly around November.
The original plan with "REBORN: A New User" was to first create a concept animated trailer for the concept animated short film. I know this sounds really confusing right now but you have to stick with me.
"Wait so, let me get this straight; you said you were creating a concept trailer, for the concept animated short film, which is in turn a concept for how the main protagonist (Mark), will act in TRON: Reborn (the full length film)?"
Yup, that's right.
"Dang. But aren't you supposed to work backwards by starting with the full short animated film & then move onto editing glimpses of that into a concept trailer for the said "REBORN: A New User"?"
Yes, that is how it was supposed to be done. However, as you may know, due to the time constraints from the start of the year, we decided to make a shortened version of the concept animated short film & to use that for the trailer for "REBORN: A New User" (the full 5-7 minute long animated short film, as the concept for Mark's actions & motivations for the full-length film, "TRON: Reborn"). But obviously, we didn't get to do that either. So instead we will go back to "Square 01" as it's called & instead worry about the full 5-7 minutes & once we are ready (possibly around November), we can submit it into a much broader Film Festival; hopefully there will be one around that time of year here in Baltimore.
*Another few reasons as to why we are choosing not to submit "REBORN: A New User" into the BCPS Film Expo is because it is too local & as I am receiving outside help from the school districts it would be unfair for the other contestants in voting; we may not even get it screened there as a result. Hence, we've switched gears, as this project is not limited to the area.
Additional Brief Points:
Point 03:(*I still have it & will use it for major posts, but on a regular basis I would prefer to post here on this blog. It's much less overwhelming.)
